Biography

Sabadell, 1982

Bachelor in Fine Arts between Barcelona and Berlin, she has carried out individual projects such as Salvar el Mundo, Romperlo Todo, y Que Haga Tiroriro, and has participated in collective exhibitions such as I Will Not Throw Rocks in London, and Cosmopolitan Barcelona in New York.

In 2006, she was granted with the Incubadora Scholarship to work on Tácticas de Combate. She is also a co-founder – together with Haizea Barcenilla – of the Damas collective, whose main objective is focussing on elements of joining elements such as bridges, zippers, nets or velcro, and experimenting with the curatorial format.

She recently received the BCN Producció 2008 Scholarship for editing Machines and Machinations, an accumulation of invents and missions whose main objective is to counter our daily tragedies.  Ana García Pineda’s drawings show her particular vision of the world. As illustraded aphorisms or maximum minimum with a point of absurdity, they explain – in an apparently humorous and innocent way – the little daily tragedies, revealing the wickedness and malice that are actually hidden.

This bittersweet nonsense of simple strokes is combined with short and direct texts that are intelligently directed towards our nerve center to destabilize our beliefs, or at least, put them in doubt.
