Biography

Jordi Mitjà’s work, formally heterogeneous, full of content and social criticism, both sensitive and poetic, finds its sources in images of everyday life that the artist recorded continuously. He collects experiences, images, invents situations, explores archives, and proposes actions to examine the simplest human reactions before contingency. He extracts and invents from reality, either through film processing or creating publications or objects, his proposals raise questions about the individual, social behaviour and art.

On the other hand, he puts a strain on the historical, political or aesthetic charges, which have these parasitized elements implied. He uses fragmentary narratives that articulate issues related to mass culture or life experience. His work is part of the legacy of conceptual art, and some artistic manifestations have survived by going in other directions, using strategies like appropriation.

Jordi Mitjà has a clear desire to creep the viewer to react in front of the myriad of concepts and references found in his work.
