The filmmaker Isabel Coixet will donate a collection of collages and photographs in polaroid format, which she has been collecting during her trips to Japan, to help rebuild a school in the city of Sendai, one of the epicenters of the disaster; the tsunami of devastating proportions that happened in early March, and where she will be going soon invited by the Cervantes Institute of Tokyo.
Profits from the sales of this artistic work from the director of Map of the Sounds of Tokyo will go entirely to the rehabilitation of the school building. These framed photographs reflect Coixet’s gaze on Japan, her particular vision of the night in Tokyo, nature in parts of the city and details of everyday life. Among the works is a portrait of the famous Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. The collection consists of 60 photographs and 20 collages.
