A recognised fan of portraits, he is attributed with knowing better tan anybody how to immortalise sensations, feelings and thoughts hidden under the look of his characters. Through the static image, he shows us a different “I” from the person we know. Montes unveils and enlightens -  wanting more than not -  our alter ego.

 

 

Santos Montes reveals to us his other passion, the North of Spain. As he says, “in the North, we have a special way of connecting with the sea, the beach, the light…”.

 

In this work, which he has been doing for more than 6 years, he shows the beaches, the heights and the “natural cathedrals” of the North as the protagonists. Places that in many occasions, are only revealed during summer and the few hours of low tide. Santos tells us in this way the personal search of a “nowhere, out of time and space”.
