Carlos Pazos, after doing several pieces in which the artistic discourse fell upon himself, decided in 1975 to create “his own self”. With I will make a start of myself the idea of exhibiting gathered the personal “I” with the celebrity “I”. In this way Pazos got into several personalities of the star system which he used to declare his versatility in both shapes and images. 

 

 

In Robados (Stolen) 33 years later, Carlos Pazos slips again in the character of the “star”. In this case, we can see the person under the star trying to resurface. We are shown how the individual loses his self control, the power over his image and over what he could – or could not – want to trascend about himself. He is no longer searching fot the glamour of a celebrity but for his personal side. That intimate zone that is left uncovered regardless of personal desires and the continuous running away from the paparazzi that follow him.

 

The Robados series is a selection of photographs taken in the island of Bali during one of “celebrity Pazo’s” holidays. They reflect the persecution of the famous by the photographers, in an attempt to capture a picture that shows the physical decadence and his effort to hide and disappear from the couché paper.

 

This photographs, taken in collaboration with Joana Roselló, transform the space into a room in which editors and photographers – between desks and raks – stir and chose the pictures that will be portrayed on the pink press.

 

Raíña Lupa will present the press installation and drafting, an exhibition of lose photograhs and book editions made by Raíña Lupa with the artist since 2007 until the date; the Fidelidad Total (Total Fidelity) book by Carlos Pazos and Ramón de España, Diodrama by Carlos Pazos and Eduardo Lago, as well as graphic work and photography.
