Ignasi Rosés // 28.05.09-31.07.09

Since 1998 Ignasi Rosés has intervened in several exhibitions and has shown his work to numerous galleries.

For this opportunity, Ignasi Rosés has selected a series of drawings and sculptures for Raíña Lupa, which show a palpable homogeinity and at the same time, they clearly evidence many differences among them.

In this occasion we will be able to enter in the universe of a Catalan artist whose world is sustained on celulose: paper, cardboard and wood. His drawings – in many cases monumental plans of endless geometry – are created and drawn on seas of Kraft paper, bounded by the indrustry on one side, and by the infinite visión of the artist on the other.

Drawn and painted creations or collages in which the material itself gives us varied finishes. As Mercè Amor explains, “Ignasi creates space, he puts limits to the immensity. That space can be generous or reduced, sometimes laberynthic, but never claustrophobic. He limitates but never closes… there is always an exit.”

With the same raw material – wood – but industrialised in a different way, Ignasi builds for us white and pure geometries; flat, with straight walls, with serial components, similar but different, together anf separated to be locked inside themselves or to take us to the infinite, reflected in a mirror.  The repeated and inverted “I”, the “I” that is different but is the same.
